Dr-Kenny-About-Page-image

I am a father of three who, after finishing school, initially studied Optometry at QUT where I graduated with Honours. Over the years that followed, my desire to pursue a career in Medicine deepened. I felt very strongly about wanting to make more of a difference, so I returned to university and commenced my Medical Degree, graduating from the University of Queensland with First Class Honours.

It was at medical school that I decided that obstetrics and gynaecology was the path I wanted to follow. Being able to be a part of the wonderful journey of pregnancy and childbirth is a fantastic privilege and I have witnessed just how big a difference Obstetricians can make for mothers and their babies if problems do arise during pregnancy and labour.

My early years as a junior doctor and O&G Trainee were spent in South East Queensland hospitals, including a rotation through the tertiary obstetric unit at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane. These initial years gave me invaluable experience in the management of normal and high risk pregnancies, as well as benign gynaecological conditions. The final years of my training were spent at Logan Hospital where I subsequently held a position as a Staff Specialist in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology until January of 2014. I am now in full time private practice at Greenslopes Private Hospital.

My main interest lies in the practice of general obstetrics and gynaecology. It’s wonderful to be able to journey alongside women during their pregnancy, and one of my greatest joys to being involved in the birth of a new baby.

My Private Practice is located at Greenslopes Hospital in association with Greenslopes Obstetrics and Gynaecology. I am accredited as a VMO at the Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital for continuity of care if preterm difficulties arise. I am also keen to maintain my interest in the education and training of future generations of doctors.

Other Interests

As mentioned, my wife and I have 3 wonderful boys and I love spending time with them, particularly on our beach holidays. I also enjoy time spent with friends and belting out some blues riffs on my guitar(s). I am actively involved in my local church community and also enjoy being physically active.

I am a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, practising as part of the Greenslopes Obstetrics & Gynaecology’ practice at the Greenslopes Hospital. We are Specialist Obstetricians/Gynaecologists who have come together with the common goal of providing quality care, in a friendly and professional environment.

The practice rooms are located alongside the premium maternity facility at Greenslopes Private Hospital, allowing access to one of Brisbane's leading private hospitals and their modern facilities.

I am also an accredited VMO at the Mater Mothers' Private Hospital so I can offer continuity of care if preterm difficulties arise.

In determining my fee structure, my aim has been to make access to quality private obstetric and gynaecology care affordable.

Please Note - the below fee structure takes effect from November 12, 2019.

Obstetric Services

For privately insured patients, the following fee structure applies:

Initial Obstetric Appointment (MBS Item 16401): $110.00

Routine Antenatal Appointments (MBS Item 16500): $55.00

Ultrasound Examinations: Any ultrasounds performed as part of an antenatal consultation will be bulk billed where possible.

Pathology Testing: Where possible, all pathology tests will be bulk billed

Pregnancy Management Fee (MBS Item 16590): $1950.00.

All private obstetricians charge a PMF in order to cover the costs of being on call (or arranging suitable obstetric cover) for the duration of the pregnancy. This fee is invoiced at 20 weeks of pregnancy and payable by 24 weeks.

For uninsured patients or patients covered by overseas health funds, out of pocket expenses will depend on individual circumstances and will be discussed in detail as part of the consultation process.

Gynaecology Services

For privately insured patients, the following fee structure applies:

Initial Consultation (MBS Item 104): $145.00

Subsequent Consultation (MBS Item 105): $75.00

Gynaecological Procedures in rooms: Fees will apply depending on the procedure

Gynaecological Surgical Procedures performed in Hospital: I have elected to adopt a "no gap" arrangement for surgery meaning there will be no out of pocket expenses for any surgical procedure performed in hospital as either a day case or overnight admission.

PLEASE NOTE: For gynaecological surgery, there will still be out of pocket expenses related to health fund excesses for hospital admission and anaesthetic expenses.

For uninsured patients or patients covered by overseas health funds, out of pocket expenses will depend on individual circumstances and will be discussed in detail as part of the consultation process.
